The frost forecast for our area is a case of "maybe or maybe not", but I'm taking no chances, the sky has cleared and the wind has gone and with temperature already down to +5.8 degrees I would imagine it'll be close come dawn...so I've just popped out and covered all the spuds with fleece..

Just to cheer you up, there was Snow on the higher ground in Durham last night - what do you expect. It's mid May!

It was just under 2 deg C in my greenhouse last night, so could have been touching zero outside.

I fleeced up yesterday against the frost just in case, we got caught a few weeks ago when fleecing did not stop the frost and our taters got bitten.

Hence why I'm keen to protect them.

40ft x 13ft x 2, first and second earlies in the far bed and main crop in the closer bed. Behind the first earlies are the fruit cage beds (cage yet to be built), 3 x 40ft beds of soft fruit.

All threat of frost has gone now for the next 5-6 days up here.

          Steve...:)

No frost here Tuesday night; got down to 3 degrees and last night started off clear but clouded over so never got any lower than 7 degrees...forecast for the next 5 days here is plenty of cloud so there should be no risk of frost here for the forseeable future and hopefully not until next autumn now.....'HOPEFULLY'.....Pllleeeasssse

I did put fleece over my fruit bushes and apple tree. No frost thankfully. Although I thought my apple tree was going to snap when the wind picked up.

Had frost Tuesday night didn't cover up spuds, they look ok, heard that if you cann't cover things up, next best thing is to water the plants first thing in the morning, is this true or a myth??

Not heard that one Jiffy, might be worth a shot.

I've heard of mist spraying Strawberries as frost aproaches, idea being a layer of ice will protect them from lower temperature damage.
