I must admit that up until now I really couldn't see the point of being one of the many olympic torch bearers. But now I get it entirely. Is it too late to apply? I'm a very deserving case.

You need to be careful Clara. You may be subjected to abusive comments by on-line snipers.
Thinking about it, GC was a good training regime, you should be OK then.:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

      Dear Mr ClaraLou,
How are you and your family today? I hope that you are all okay? I found information about you and decided to contact you for an important assistance. I am a citizen of Zimbabwe, but I am writing from Canada
this is you lucky day as i proud holder of warrant ticket which honours me to hold a real olympic torch in running
this is genuine article torch powered by burner from Mamod Steam engine, with perforated tin with wadding underneath and specially scratched on the side with a centre punch proving beyond doubt she is orginal olympic torch as designed by Ziggy Coe
unfortuantaley I am no longer able to perform the torch relay as mamod steam engine exploding killing all my family including me so that is why I am contacting you today
so I need to bring my remains out of Zimbabwe as soon as possible before any more harm is done on them. I am having a huge sum of money in the total sum of $18.6Million presently hidden in a safe place along with Olympic torch. I kept this money in in two trunk boxes in disguise as family treasures and could not bank them, because of being exploded into many pieces by ziggy steam engine situation. I need you to send me urgently your bank account number, sort code, PIN, secret question answer of name of family pet and contents of all your childrens piggy banks. I will then send you genuine olympic torch so you may proudly sell it on ebay in the manner of Olympic spirit and britisness.

:lunapic 130165696578242 5: It's you writing all those scams, isn't it John? How's it going?

If only it were just Mr Zimbabwe and his ilk who were doing this. It appears that some of the people who have been 'torch bearers' are putting their torches (it seems you get to keep one as a souvenir) up for grabs. To be fair, some are claiming it is to raise money for the various charities with which they're involved, but the rest? Well, I guess they just fancy having £100,000 in the bank. As I say, now I can see the point of it all.

£100,000? Nearly as much as a ticket for the opening ceremony then!

£100k to be the proud owner of a one in 8000 torch :roflol:

In aid of charity yeah right £100k and a tenner to charity to ease concience

The torches should be numbered, and those selling shamed, along with every penny paid to ebay directly put into a charities account, not forgetting to charge the seller the full listing cost

If it was, Radio 4 fell for it! :heehee: They had a guy on the show who was basically saying that torch is the property of the torch bearer, they can do what they like with it, etc etc.

With any luck the owners will get something more like a hundred pence than a hundred grand. Who'd want one of those monstrosities anyway?

No-one seems to mention that at £240 per torch the UKOC claws in nearly £2M - thats why they arn't interfering in the EBay situation!
