    I've noticed quite a few ants on it, also there's a small dark spot on it, should I be worried...

    Paeony buds are covered in a sticky sugar which ants adore.

    I see a lot of ants on My Peonies each year. They don't seem to suffer.
    One of mine changes colour - nothing to do with ants. It's just a feature.
    What a diff. a day makes.jpg Last weeks flower and yesterdays, side by side (same plant). Stars off pink and changes to white over a week. Other blooms follow on to continue the sequence.
