The Perennial Plant of the year 2013 has been chosen .... Polygonatum odoratum 'Variegatum' (Variegated fragrant Solomon's seal)

(not sure why they choose it in 2012, but thats how it works every year)



does not do much for me, but maybe if I see in a garden, I may change my mind

 

I have never seen it before - it's not your usual run of the B&Q mill. Nice cool green though and would go well with lots of things. Looks like a flower arranger's choice

The Perennial Plant of the Year Award is voted on by members of the Perennial Plant Association (PPA). PPA is an international organization, comprised of growers, retailers, designers, educators, and others who work in the field of perennial plants.

I normally follow their recomendations, and they are normally very good ....

The PPOY award is given to a plant with the following characteristics:
suitable for a wide range of climate types, low maintenance
easily propagated - easily comes true from seed or vegetative propagation
exhibits multiple seasonal interest

If you can have an employee of the month with your employer then yea you can have a plant of the year...i dont think they are saying you have to agree, its just what there assosiation have voted im assuming and a good reference for people to go off when looking for new plants.
