I only put this birdbox up, late Spring early summer last year! It now has it's first resident in this tree/hedge Sparrow...it's now singing it's little heart out trying to attract a mate no doubt.

Looks like a House Sparrow to me (no black cheek spot).

On one of my plots there was an extremely dilapidated 'inherited' blue tit box that had fallen down to low level, and had at least one brood of young raised in it every year. But since it fell apart and I put a replacement one up at the proper height I've never had any blue tits nesting in it.

I keep intending to make some boxes for the green woodpeckers never manage to get around to it. A couple of years ago some robins nested in our heap of dumpy bags, denying us the use of them. For several weeks we've been watching jackdaws raiding our straw on newspaper paths for nesting material, and flying off to stuff it down some one's chimney.

Back in our garden the blackbirds have again built a nest on top the the bird table roof.

        Steve,
I have just looked at the Nook thread. Absolutely smashing. Have you time to give us an end of May report? It would be so nice if you could.Maybe it swould be more appropriate on the Allotments thread?
        Jenny

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I'll see what I can do to put together a mini photographic tour of our plot, over the weekend or early next week.

        Steve...:)
