Due to being a clumsy oaf , I have managed to break the stem on one of my Sweet peas . It was about 24" tall and I have broken it at about 4". Will it regrow from this  Or should I bin it and move another SP in from another planting - this may leave a gap though .

    TIA

I don't see why it shouldn't grow again, but obviously it'll be behind the other plants now. I'd give it a chance. :)

I agree, give it a go. If it has a leaf axil, it should be fine, imo.

    Cheers...Freddy

They sprout readily. I will be amazed if it doesn't sort itself out. It will put that plant back a couple of weeks though, I'm afraid.

I was advised from someone when growing sweet peas from seed to nip it after the seedling got 3 pairs of leaves. It then sends out a new shoot which grows vigorously. Yes it works :) I have cracking young sweet peas this year.

Anyway......on this basis, I see no reason why yours won`t sprout again.

On the Nursery we as growers of sweet peas commercially used to cut the tops off the sweet peas to encourage them to bush out and provide a better display! I think it was commonly done in the trade.:)

Well as the forum is not blocking my posts today ! - Thanks all :blue thumb: For the advice , on closer scrutiny there does seem to be plenty of stem and leaf to regrow from :blue thumb: Panic over !

I dropped a knife on one of Alex-adam's Bridgwater Beans, that seems to have healed itself & is growing well.
