I'm not surprised by Facebook being a target. The amount of users who don't use the privacy settings so anyone/everyone can view their profiles AND have their full personal details (DOB, address, contact details, etc) there is astounding.

 Hmm not surprising about the Facebook Twitter lot... Shame about Google Chrome though.. Have tried it & it has some very interesting & useful tools that say Mozilla doesn't, but, it is in it's infancy I suppose so will be vulnerable until they find all the loop holes etc & patch them.. I do have to say though that I like Mozilla & Chrome..... Maybe one day they will offer what we all want....!! :dh:

Just an adendum to this that occured on facebook around the middle of last year, my memory is sketchy on it but it went something like this.

A rumour spread accross facebook and also other forums/communities that a particular appliccation on Facebook was linked to a virus/Malware.

As people do they went to google to find out about it and managed to find info about it rather quicky...unfortunately that site was the one offloading the virus, there was nothing wrong with the facebook application in question.

So the moral is, only go to recognised sites for info on viri. Sites by the major manufacturers such as Norton (symantec) or Mcafee are places good as any to start. I realise many "slate" those two softs but they are used by many people so its often one of these sites that gets the first info...or first reports. Also your own firewall manufacturers sites is as good as any. There are many others where its safe to browse for info..

    Steve...:)

Excellent point there Steve! If it's a genuine threat the official virus software sites will have the correct information and hopefully a remedy in their updates!

As for facebook - I know it keeps suggesting a 'friend' to me.......as obviously searching but can't see anything due to privacy settings......there's always the 'block/ignore' application for nosey critters!

I find it great for keeping in touch with family, but not into just letting anybody on my info!
