I've just bought about 20 wild primrose plugs to start a small wildflower area.

I've removed the plugs from their containers and they've been planted individually in small pots with compost. They've been in their pots for about a month now and have put on a small amount of growth.

My question is, when should I plant out in the garden. Now, this autumn or wait until next spring ?

    Many thanks

I'd get em in now with this wet weather, give em a chance to put on some root growth to be ready for spring.

Couldn't agree more. Everything is putting on so much growth in this damp, cool spell.

Give them plenty of space to spread, I have wild primroses in my garden and the main job is always splitting them. If they like their position they'll grow HUGE in a very short time. Tiny seedlings turn into a plant about 10" diameter within one season. Although I love them, they take over the space as easily as dandelions, just that they're easier to dig up. I can't bring myself to throw them away and have been known to take some to hedgerows just to try to keep them in check. I would add that I've never bought a primrose, they just seem to love growing here.
