Another one. Lighthouse in the desert - Brilliant but bleedin' useless.

Due to a medical condition I have been offered 'councilling.' In my opinion, I can think of no bigger waste of space and time.

      Cheers, Tony.

:yay: Nick this is fantastic news.. You will be so good at it too..This will be your chance to put back in some of the help you had & save more lives..
I know a few people who have successfully come out the other side of it all like you & are helping others,, Very rewarding work, but can be heart breaking when you have someone on a path to self destruction who can not or will not find & grasp the help & support they need.. The good moments far outweigh the bad though, but I am sure you don't need me to tell you.. You will be great at it Nick.. Just remember to think of "you" sometimes too mate...:yahoo:

 Tony, I think there are some sorts of councelling that really do help.. Getting off drink & drugs is very hard )as many things are I know) as it relys on the person's screwed up brain being able to obey willpower on their own, so much of the time.. Councellors are a lifeline to these people when the willpower is weak & they are feeling very poorly, people like Nick are there at the end of the phone to help them through that moment... 12 stepping is not unlike it & it works for most..!
So I think it depends on the councelling & what it is for to be honest Tony..

I was once offered councelling for something & it was rubbish... On the otherhand the type of councelling Nick is doing is very different & proven to work... Well that's my feelings on it anyway..

There, but for the grace of God ,goes each and everyone of us Nick. I sincerely wish you well in your new job. It must work better if the counselling is from someone ,like yourself, who has been there already,
Just leave a little space and time to be you sometimes Nick,

Best of luck with the councelling job, i wish we had some good people where i live.

Went to the doc 4 months ago for a medical, doc said i should go for councelling to stop smoking, i said it would be waste of time/money, he said i must, i said no, i don't need to i _ _ _ _, next thing i'am booked in straight away, so i went, it was ok but when it finished i ask for a cig, which is very bad for me because i don't smoke and never had, doc didn't read his notes and wouldn't listen :wallbanging:

Well done Nick. I was offered counselling by Victim Support when I had my hanging baskets nicked a couple of years ago but I didn't take the offer up! Seriously, counselling or even just befriending can be a great help to anyone with a problem. Good luck!

Well done Nick. Not just for getting the job, which is great news in itself, but also cos you must be an all round good lad. A proper inspiration. If there were more people like you, the world would be a much better place for everyone I reckon.

                        WD Nick.
I'm a bit concerned though with you having 2 jobs + renovating the VW + Modifying the Ice Cream Vans + doing the website + Gardening + The Folly.
Where will it all fit in?
I can visualise a sleepwalking gardener staggering around his patch at 2am trying to keep things going.
Time management seems to be the priority here.

I imagine that it depends by who is doing the talking and who is listening. In this case I think that folly mon is a genuinely altruistic person which is ingredient n. one if you want to help somebody.
