The last time I went to the cinema, with the children was when ET was out (82?)

The last time I actually went myself was RED OCTOBER (90?)
It was disgusting, munching crisps popcorn, slurping drinks, the stink of eating hotdogs/burgers with onions and sauce, finished me

If you must eat, have a meal before, or even after the film, make a night of it
not just a two hour gluttony of feast and the film is secondary
Save money stay at home please

I watched STALAG 17 on the TV today :)

I did not chill six beers in the fridge, or pop pop corn
I had my lunch stuck the tv on watched the film, and made a pot of tea after it

We rarely go to the cinema. The volume is usually much too high! Then there's all the munching and the distraction of youngsters playing with their phones

Having said that, we went only the other month and saw 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. I don't think there was anyone under the age of 50 (or, maybe, 60), the volume was OK and it was a well acted, extremely pleasant film. :dbgrtmb:

The time before that was about four years ago to see 'Miss Potter'. Also, just us wrinklies there :heehee:

Everything else we tried before that was much too loud. We walked out and demanded our money back - and got it :dbgrtmb:. It got to the stage where the manager (local 10 screen cinema) gave me his phone number and said to ask him about the volume before booking. He said we weren't the only ones to walk out of films because of the volume.

I agree with Shiney about the volume in many cinemas. I find it extraordinary in a society which is obsessed with many trivial health and safety regulations that blasting your eardrums at decibels far above what would be considered acceptable at a public venue is considered to be the norm.
Could it be that many of the younger generation are already half deaf from constantly having instuments of loud noise plugged into their ears.

Jack and his people looked down on us (if you can look down on a ship from under water) as we were Merchant Navy. I left the Merchant Navy 48 years ago :old:
