Well done Nick! :) - You seem to go keep going from strength to strength, and even better are helping others to do the same.

You're a good bloke - god knows, we need more like you.

Your a Brave Mon to admit all that. Can't leave you alone to face the music.

The Zig has been down a similar path. Have given it all up except the wine and the tobacco now. It became obvious that my Children were more important than all that.

Gave up the rum this year. Will have to work on the rest.

You'm doing a Sterling Job Nick, on here and at the Hospital:dbgrtmb:

I suffer from "Generalised Anxiety Disorder", Panic Attacks and Social Phobias and have done since I was a kid after a distressing incident. My other half forced me to take counselling after I tried to do "something silly" out of frustration last year. I was reluctant to go at first, saying it would be a waste of time and I could get better on my own but he gave me an ultimatum, so I had no choice but to go in order to save my relationship.

Got my first 12 sessions for free through the charity Mind and now have done just had my 21st session. I'm starting to see a change in my life, achieving small things which I never thought I would be able to do again.

Well done Folly Mon, I hope you will make many connections with your patients and gain their trust, trust is key more than anything else I've found.

              Brilliant, Folly Mon!! :love30:

It's difficult but very rewarding and I admire you for doing it.

Amongst all the other things Mrs Shiney does she also helps people through terminal illnesses (some of which no longer seem to be terminal) and helps with smoking, overweight etc problems. I've seen the good results of what a caring person can achieve.

Nick, you are a true inspiration, and I have nothing but admiration for you.

So many of my days are doom and gloom, dare not leave the house in case the panic attacks start, shutting myself off because it's "safer" or using humor to hide behind.

Then I read your post that oozes positiveness, god bless you Nick and all that you do.

Just want to take this opportunity to say, there are quite a few people on gc that may not know just how much they have helped me, and for that I am truly grateful.
You are all wonderful people :wub2:

I get anxiety for absolutely no good reason. Proper bouts of it too. I have done all my life. I've got bored of it though, and have started making a conscious effort to ask myself why I feel the way I do when I'm not in a good mood. Next time you're in a proper downer or a proper stinker, ask yourself 'why am I angry/worried?'. If you're anything like me, sometimes you'll struggle to find the answer to that, and if there's no answer, then surely there's no point being in that mood. Sometimes there is an answer, but when you bring that answer out of the subconscious and into the conscious mind, if you're out like me then half the time it suddenly seems so trivial its laughable.

                          Proud of ya Folly Mon!

I too used to have a fondness for the party powder and drink. I used to kid myself that it was a social thing as I never bothered at home, but the truth is that I just went out more often. Professional help told me it was as a result of my shyness and depression (I've suffered it all my life, even now) and I smirked inwardly. After another five years or so of miserable relationships and "partying" I met Sue and it all stopped. So he was right!

I'm sure that you will change a lot of lives:blue thumb:

I am one of the people who goes to counseling on a regular basis and I DO find that it helps me. I have major depressive disorder ( clinical depression ). I have medication for it but it's not enough. Sometimes you just need that person you can talk to and not have to worry about what you can and can't say for fear of the other person worrying about you or judging you. It has helped me figure out a few things on my own and made me think about stuff in a different way. Agreed it's not for everyone but if it helps just 1 person overcome their struggle IT'S WORTH IT!! God Bless you Nick!! I wish there were more people out there like you!!!
