Hi guys, i bought these 2 asiatic lilies from BnQ for a pound each. They have finished flowering but i was thinking do i plant them now, or do i wait til spring? they can go next to an easter lily i already have growing in the border.

    Thanks

don't disturb them yet, and give them a good fertilizer .... they are storing energy for next years growth .... only when the stem dies, do you lift them .... I may be wrong, but thats the way I understand it .... (the same applies to all plants that grow from bulbs/tubers ... such as daffodills, tulips etc)

many of mine are from homebase and b&q , at 50p each what you do is just cut the heads of , so that the bulb will not use energy to produce seeds , let the stem die down naturally so that the bulb will get energy back.
about planting outside , all dipends but how cold it gets , if you already have other lily that have survived outdoor , go for it or leave then in the pot .........remember that in the soil will grow bigger and stronger , but at the same time when the stem will die down , there will be left a hole in the ground , it will be an easy refuge for slugs in winter and most of the time they will eat it .

I bought some last year and just planted them the way you would plant any other potted plant and they are fine. They went nuts this year in fact.

I think they're an excellent buy! These were 5Op from B&Q Like Catztail I planted them straight away without disturbing the roots and this is their 3rd year.

Been splashing out again have we :WINK1:

You can leave in the pot as Dim sugested, tomotoe food once a week will help build it up for next year ,and plant late Autumn I would take off all the peaty compost 1st around the bulbs I find it it holds the water and they may rot off .
Well drained soil sunny spot but you know this already.

I have (I think) the same ones.

They are in their 3rd year now. Never been sheltered or lifted. I potted them on into the bigger planter when I got them and they get left to do their own thing. As others have said, I feed them both miracle gro and Tomorite and they seem to be thriving.

I had some a few years back. I planted them on into a big pot and did nothing else. they lasted for about 5 years until a really severe winter got them. I had my money's worth over and over again I'd say.

The soil is probably rubbish. So I would be tempted to feed every few weeks. I am a fan of chicken manure pellets.
