Funily enough I do. But I told them in no uncertain terms that I was ex staff & I knew what they would be up to.

As things have been pointed out on this thread, we are powerless against the big banks.

    Not so.

If we vote with our feet & move our money out of the banks and into the building societies then we will break their hold over us.

I was told to get an account, even if it only had a fiver in it, it would add up to barclays market value.

So lets all move our fivers to a building society.

I'm transfering £20,000 to premium bonds tomorrow & the rest will go to the Ecology Building Society.

Lets see how the banks do if we've all said enough is enough.

If we really want to shaft the banks, all we need to do is to buy things with cash. It'll be inconvenient, but they'll poop 'emselves!

I moved my fiver about a year ago now, and I'm glad I did. Had a problem today where I had a garage bill that was a bit more than I'd expected, and the cash machine wouldn't give me any more money. I walked into the branch, was seen very quickly by a human. Told him what had happened, and rather than being told to wait in another queue or phone a number, and without being scowled at even, he promptly checked what's up, realised it was simply that I'd hit my daily withdrawal limit, asked how much extra I needed out, and just did it no messing. Back in my days as a customer of the world's local bank, if the branch had been open, I'd have been passed from pillar to post if I was lucky, or if I was unlucky I'd just be told tough luck.

Chief of Barclays falling on his diamond sword? And Mr Diamond? It still stinks.

Tony Robinson puts it brilliantly here on Question Time

I can add no more than to applaud him, and wonder why our government ministers are lacking his clarity and conviction?

I think its disgraceful. What a spineless worm. The preverbial excrement hits the fan, and what does this chap do? He walks away. He says, 'nowt to do with me chaps, I'm off'.

I remember years ago, right at the beginning of my career, I was incorrectly led to believe that I'd made a catastrophic blunder that had cost a client several million quid. It later turned out I hadn't, the client had and was trying to pass the buck, but anyway. I went to see my boss, told him the situation, and told him if he wants to make a great show of sacking me, I'd understand. His remarkably calm reply was something like, 'if I do that, it will damage your career, and it will look like I employ incompetent people, and if they are right, you'll be away getting on with your life while I and your team mates will be left to pick up the pieces'.

I was a young lad then. This chap is old enough to know better. He isn't being honourable, he is being a weasel.

And Mr Diamond has proved what a weasel he is too now - there is a surprise. The really galling thing is, as sure as you've got a hole in your bum, they will be leaving with an 'exit package' where they won't be left financially wanting (not that they ever should be on the money they've been earning).

Apparently we have to pay such high salaries to ensure we get the best people. An it certainly seems we have the best. The best crooks the best swindlers and the best con men. In what other walk of life do you get a nice fat pay out for being useless at your Job. When I was a teenager I worked at a local pub as a dish washer an I was possibly the worst dish washer in the history of dishes an all things dishwashery I got the sack obv I didn't have the right contract eh.
