    Hello fellow gardeners.

I recently bought 1000 of these poppy seeds for £1.00
I got them through the post today. It says on the packet to spread the seed in the spring. Is there anyway I can scatter the seed just now?

Also, a little basic advice on care for these types of poppies would be helpful.

    Thanks.

If you have any other Poppies growing, wait until the seed pods turn brown and burst, then you can scatter the LB seeds which should germinate next Spring as they'll need a cold spell to break the dormancy. How big is your garden though? 1000 seeds will go a long way even at 50% success rate. I have a LB Poppy in my front garden in it's first year and it's already about 2' tall by about 18" wide. The flowers go on for ever too. I dead-headed about 30 heads on mine yesterday leaving about 50 in flower and still loads more coming into bud. They're dead easy to maintain and easy to grow too. I have a pic of mine taken a few weeks ago on a Poppy thread on here somewhere.

It's not a big front garden we have. I'm going to dig out 2 other plants to make room for the poppies. So when my icelandic poppies pods burst, I scatter my ladybug poppy seeds where I want them?
So I don't need to wait till next spring to do this? It can happen this year?

Yes, just by mimicking what the Poppies do naturally after flowering.
