Hi, I wonder if anyone here might know the name of this particular lavender. Pictured above grass to show how silvery the foliage is. Thanks for any help! lavender3.jpg

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I recognise it, but right now the name eludes me.

Another picture. Apologies that I don't have any showing the full plant.

Loveweeds, yes, I'm slowly learning there are loads of them. I was just hoping maybe there'd be something distinctive enough about this one that someone might know it by name. Clueless1, thanks for the suggestion and the welcome.

L angustifolia is the hardiest type I understand, best for English weather
probably the most important criteria when choosing:a)height and b)colour /shape of the flowers. I have a miniature lavender, only 1 foot tall !!!
there are white lavenders or pinkish too, fluffy ones or less fluffy...
you can also try to take cuttings, should be straightforward

I've always had Lavendar Hidcote in my gardens, which is why I was 97.63% certain I recognised it:)

I prefer the slender flowered ones over the chunkier flowered cultivars, but that's just a matter of personal preference. I find it to be pretty much zero maintenance, requiring nothing more than a light haircut after flowering.

Lavendula angustifolia, which as I understand it, hidcote is a type of.

Not being rude but I would just call it the common English Lavender. Here the French Lavender grows wild and is far more attractive.

    Anyone remember this ...

Yes French lavender is also a fairly common garden plant here too, although the English lavender seem to attract more pollinators, but that might be because the English lavender is more abundant here than French lavender (in gardens anyway). French lavender does have more attractive flowers, but both have their own merits.
