Nettle tea

    Morning all

    I'm planning on haveing a bash at makeing some nettle tea ( for the garden not to have with cakes) . Is it just a case of cuttin some nettles give them a bit of a whack an then leave them in a bucket of water? Or is there more to it than that.

    I don't bother checking ratios of nettles:water, but just dilute it down to the colour of tea.

    I'd chuck in any other deep-rooted weeds that you have, and leaves of comfrey if you have any. Doesn't matter how strong you make it, as Scrungee said just dilute it to the colour of tea before you use it on the plants. After you are done all the weeds will be dead (drowned!) and you can chuck them on the compost heap

      Good roots on Dandelions :)

      The deep roots weeds tend to be able to pull up more and useful nutrients. Once "drowned" they aren't going to colonise the garden any more, so have been made safe :blue thumb:

      What is the best thing to do this in? Just a lidded bucket? :noidea:

      I do mine in an old large lidded bucket,just stir and leave for a couple of weeks.
      A word of warning it stinks.
