Good idea. Say you've come as Lady Chatterley's Lover :lunapic 130165696578242 5:. Should make for interesting conversations and will allow you to get away with some outrageous flirting if you want to. :dbgrtmb:

I think a combination of Pete and Zigs advice would be perfect. Go as a gardener and get stupidly drunk and kick off :snork:

As they are Americans they will probably be combining it with a slightly late Independence Day celebration.

As you're from S.A. you wouldn't be able to make silly comments (I would) about these colonists! :roflol:

Yes, I think Shiney's advice is sound unless you feel you can come clean and say your wife is not a party goer and say she is not well at the moment and you cannot leave her. But do as you say and buy a decent present. :)

I'm not good at lying ... I blush

all I told her was that we are unable to attend and said that I wish her a happy birthday and a super party ... she said no probs and was very polite

I gave her a bottle of good South African red wine (1982) as I know that she enjoys a good wine ....

her birthday was on the 7th, and the party is on friday ....

I mowed her neighbour's lawn today and had a chat with her .... many of her family are coming for the party ....some live in the USA and some in Switzerland and Germany....

I think it will be a very good party with no expenses spared

Just for future reference remember - children not only bring great joy to your life, they also provide a ready-made 'crying off at the last moment' excuse!

Wait a second, her birthday is August 7th. So she is a LEO. Oh your in TROUBLE , us Leo's never forget when someone did not come to celebrate with them. Maybe the wine will make her roar less. Good luck to you dear.

I have a cunning plan! Phone her and tell her you can mange to go afterall. It's fancy dress I'll go in your place, I like a good knees up :hapydancsmil: I'll go in a gorrilla outfit and pretend I (you) have Laryngitus so I (you) wont have to talk, just gesture and nod a bit. That way you'll keep in your clients good books and I (you) will be able to neck down a nice bottle SA red! :)
