    Hi everyone

I'm Sam and live in Abergavenny. I have been a keen gardener for about 5 years now as I inherited a garden with a veg plot built in and fenced when we bought our house (just as well with 2 springer spaniels!).

I have always grown all the traditional veg but this year I splashed out on a greenhouse and although the majority of the produce is doing well I am in agreement with the majority of the country in that we need more sunshine and a more consistent temperature.

Not only is my plot looking relatively sparse but the failure of my cucumbers in the greenhouse has been a little disappointing to say the least. However all my herbs, peppers, chillis, melons seem to be doing well so far and I hope I have not just jinxed them.

I look forward to catching up with the threads and hopefully can help with any problems or queries anyone has.

    Sam

      Hello Sam,
good to have you here on GC. We all get the grumps some days but it's reassuring to know you're not alone!! It gets quite hilarious sometimes- especially if one of us spots the sun for a few minutes. Lots of knowledge on just about anything here,
      enjoy

Thank you and sorry for not popping back on sooner. The weather has been appalling here and I am finding the outside growing infuriating and depressing. I have not seen so many weeds grow overnight, or slugs and snails munch their way so quickly through a lettuce! The only things which seem to be going great outside are my broad beans, squash, pak choi, radish, beetroot and lettuce. Onions an peas have come ot a standstill and I am debating whether to just forget them for this year. Is it winter already?

Next week apparently. The jet stream is going back to where it belongs so summer might follow in its wake.
