I dont agree totally with what is written in a book called the bible .... (and there are many versions) ....

if God is so great and can control everything, why does he allow suffering of innocent children and wars and evil and hardship?

and if you say (like most catholic priests that I have asked the very same question) .... that it's to test us .... you are talking carp and guessing (just like them)

My childhood home had an outside wash house, that contained a cubic metre boiling tub,(large cast iron tub set in bricks) heated by a six inch grate coal/coke fire, This was used to BOIL the whites ie sheets and shirts.
So yes a small fire can boil gallons of water

I will concede the hate part
Though something so important to life, and knowledge of an afterlife, your Mother/Father would contact you direct rather than the odd one turning up at a show and tell everyone that Rover the dog is happy, and still enjoys his doggy chocolates

So yes moving away from friends saying I will keep in touch usually does not happen, though something so important would not be forgotten by your loved ones

If there is a god, and I believe there is although I call it nature, why would it care about the plight of individuals? Or even individual species?

If I was a farmer and I had 1000 sheep, I would care about my flock because they are my livelihood, but I'd still sell them for slaughter when the time was right.

I love how we, as humans, have such active imaginations...it makes for some entertaining movies, games, books, etc. I don't love how people take it a step too far and assume these supernatural occurrences are in any way possible in our physical world.

I know a small fire can boil gallons of water but not enough to cook a person. But the point i was trying to make was more to do with what Dim said about them trying to boil captain cook in a pot. Tribes in that part of the world during the cook era were not boiling people in pots for food. So i doubt anyone tried to boil Cook in real life.

That active imagination that you love us humans for, that gives us the opportunity to achieve so much, would be destroyed if we all accepted someone else's word for it that such and such was impossible.

It always amuses me when people state as fact that something is definitely impossible, then try to back up their claims with science, yet completely miss the fact that science gives a massively incomplete picture of reality, and that even scientists themselves acknowledge they don't have all the answers.

If we know at this point what is or is not possible, then I wonder why CERN and similar organisations are still spending insane amounts of money to try to find answers.

If you knew that just one of your 1000 sheep was suffering the most severe pain though you would intervene and help wouldnt you?
