    That what I thought at first Angie, but couldn't find it in my books, even the two volume RHS Encyclopedia didn't have a picture. However, the good old interweb came to my rescue, and I think it's Spirea douglasii. Be nice to get confirmation.

    That would seem to fit the bill Angie. It's growing in a damp place (next to the, ahem, septic tank!) and is in semi-shade. It's a bit untidy, but suits its location.

    The depth of the knowledge on this Forum never ceases to amaze me Chris.
    A lovely specimen that one. I've got the bog standard just about kicking in now but it is a lovely colour combi with the young,fresh limey green leaf,

    Not sure how big yours is at the moment but it can be a bit of a thug so you may need to keep an eye on it.

    Very pretty though and the bees love it.

    It's about 2 metres across but is in a semi-woodland setting so size isn't too much of a problem.
