I'm with ya:dbgrtmb: Not really good eating then:snork:

I have heard of folk cooking Wrasse up, but I find them too pretty to eat, bit like Rockling with their little smiley mouths & little fat bellies. Good eating but I just can't do it:doh:

    Andy,
thank you for your tales of the sea today. I think a fisherman's life is a hard one, often fraught with danger and frustration I would imagine. I have much respect for all those at sea as I'm sure you have too.
Lovely pictures, makes a nice change from flowers!
    thank you,
    Jenny

Well done scrungee. Yes, I`d say it was probably the scorpion. Huge mouths but very soft. We (well not me anyway):snork: just hold it by the lip to remove the hook.

The Chines used to take them off us years ago but we just return them. Only downside for them is their swim bladder gets done in sometimes.

I`ve never eaten one myself. Dunno why really as I love seafood. As long as it`s cooked though.

      Your welcome Jenny.

This is just a hobby for us but I`ve worked in Peterhead where our fishing fleet are based and got to know a few "real" fisherman and I tell you, it wouldn`t be me. Not a chance. And to be honest, the money the crew makes on the trawlers these days is nothing special. Not for what they do anyway.

Glad you liked the pics and hopefully we`ll see more from you with your new Lumix.

Was out in the boat yesterday and guess who got sunburn again :dunno: Very cloudy when we left home, with a poor weather forecast convinced me not to bother with the suncream. Maybe after all all these years I`ll learn

The fishing was dreadful. We were all over the place looking for the mackerel but only got 2 dozen. One day last week we pulled in over 600 between the three of us.

Since that`s the crustaceans on the move now we decided to stick our 4 creels back in the water on Saturday and when we lifted them yesterday, found this little fellow.

Big enough for the pot and the first one of the season.

          Blimey, nice one Andy:dbgrtmb:

Its odd with the Mackerel, one minute there's loads of them, next minute they've thought of somewhere better to be. I did see a program about St Kilda last week where they were finding underfed Puffin babies because the parents were trying to feed them pipefish as there were no sandeels about. Things are changing.

          Definitely Zigs.

There was a thing on the Scottish news last week about two baby puffins in North Berwick going to the pub :lunapic 130165696578242 5: Read all about it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-18827974

Well guys, I`ve been getting a fair few days fishing in recently. Some better than others I have to say. One day last week we went for the cod and after an encouraging start, we got ONE keeper :dunno: We had 3 or 4 chuckers at the start and felt we were in for a good day, but it was not to be. An hour digging the bait for most of it go back over the side :cry3: We did catch about a dozen Wrasse though. Plagued with them at this time of year. I took a pic just for Jenny

Yesterday we went for the Mackerel and must have caught somewhere around 400. We had to sail over 5 miles to the May Isle to get them though. I actually used a cod feather trace just for a change and caught just as much as the other two.

Takes us over an hour to steam there though. We can only do about 6.6 knots with prevailing conditions. Still, the sun shone and it was a pleasant day. Except of course for my usual...............yep, sunburnt face again. I really do need to learn :wallbanging:
