Perennials Grown As Annuals?

    I've searched and searched and I kind of get the gist of perennials grown as annuals but I don't get why. Could some one please help out with an explanation as to why perennials are growns as annuals?

    In colder climes it is because they do not normally survive the winter.

      I have to grow some Monarda and Echinacea as annuals because they're not happy on my sandy soil and as Palustris has said they won't survive the Winter.:coffee:
