Thank you for that lovely piccie of a Wrasse. Even if I liked fish, I couldn't eat something so beautiful. Orange and turquoise are my favourite colours.:wub2:
You sound a bit distainful about it - not good to eat?

They are indeed a gorgeous fish Jenny. Most probably the best of our native species.

As for the eating of them.......my missus googled Ballan Wrasse the other day and found a fishing forum from Norway, where they fillet them. Most agreed they were a tasty fish.
We used to sell them years ago to the Chinese now and then. Personally, I`ve never tried them. We always return them but have decided the next time I catch one, I`ll try it. They`ve always had a reputation round here that they weren`t worth eating. Too much bones.

This is the right time of year for catching them here so no doubt we`ll catch a few more next week.

I've always returned Wrasse too, catch them from the piers occasionally. Lovely looking fish.

Would they be nice, wrapped in foil, and cooked on the BBQ. Then brushed with a nice Szechuan sauce ( sweet and sticky) and eaten with a pair of chop sticks? You would need to take your time eating it. Had fish similar to this on a beach in Lantau Island; the wild dogs jumped up on the table when we'd finished and scoffed the debris in about 10 seconds!! Rice, heads, bones and the chop sticks,
