Try the reasonable approach and see what she says.

Regardless of whether she is amenable or not, keep a noise diary (starting from this experience) and record dates/times and what happened and how long it went on for. She may be amenable in the cold light of day and then next time she has a few drinks it may start all over again. The Environmental Health person will ask you to keep a diary for a while to see how bad it is. If you already have that information it will speed up the process.

ok have taken all advice on board

i have started a log including last nights fun and games,

i have phoned local council and spoke to someone about noise nuisance ( who made me feel like a whinger) then gave me the same advice that you have all given re the diary

then felt that as it was now gone 4 in the afternoon that they had sufficient time to recover from the alcohol consumed,
I summoned all my strength and went and knocked the door, The partner came to the door and when we got over the shock of seeing me stood there said OH I WILL GET THE OTHER HALF (so now i know which one is the boss) she comes back and says she is laying down and doesnt feel up to moving as she is tired ...... i said that's ok i can say what i need from the front door if she doesnt mind the world hearing ..... she was up and at the door in a flash ..... i let her rant for a few mins about disturbing her and infringing on her civil rights and the law .... then i asked her what Rights had i infringed on ... she replied you ordered me to turn off my music just because i am a traveller i have rights you know .... I listened then spoke to her partner and asked what did i ask last night ? was it to turn off the music ? or turn down the music she mumbled that it was turn down i then asked her did i say why i wanted it turned down and she said i think you said that the little ones cant sleep .... i turned back to the other one and said that was one mother to another asking for a little bit of quiet for a child to sleep, so i didnt and would not infringe on your rights whether you are a traveller, foreign or Gay, i said if i was being difficult i would have complained every time they sang karaoke but it was just that little bit louder last night and it wasnt fair on the little ones, I stated i didnt want any trouble and neither was i there to make any i just wanted to clear the air.... she just stomped off back into the house but the other one did say that she was sorry and that she would have a word and that there would be no trouble ....

so we shall have to wait and see

Good for you Kaz!! Now you have done all you can to settle and sort it reasonably. You can take it to the authorities with a clear conscience if it has to go any further.

Hi.. above all you need proof of what ever is going on. Diary log is good but you need proof & witnesses. That is what the council & the police will ask and will go all around the houses till you do. Sometimes being polite or nice wont work. We know we have tried it. We now have cctv on our property but not by choice.We put small trees up neighbour kept cutting them.We paln to put a fence up.First week neighbour threatened my fiance put it up I will rip it down & take you to court.2nd week we had order fencing plus.We arrived home fri night 7pm.During the day he had cut off all the steal poles and cut and ripped off all the wire fence. From the rd to the large gate at the side of the bungalow. We have had everyone involved police included we even got the police to tell him we are putting a fence up on our own property. We did it from 1-7pm just the 2 of us was to late to get help at the last min.He came back & went berserk We put cctv on the fence & all boundaries he is a nutter at 72 you would that throwing a strop because he cant get his own way wouldn't happen well it he has one regular .He also has some history with other neighbours across from him..Anyway getting back to you get proof and have independant witness as to what is going on. That way things will go forward a lot quicker otherwise the police will mess you around. good luck

Next time she mentions that "I'm a traveller/gypsy"....tell her, you know what, i had no idea until you mentioned it, so what!!
