    Hello to all

I am new here and only have a small piece of garden.

Right off the bat I have a question:cool: I planted a small Aster last year which was already in flower and didn't last very long. It has come up again this year (Yippee) 4 times bigger than before but unfortunately has not flowered yet! We're in the middle of August, will it flower now? If not, why not?:spinning:

    Thank you all.

Garden Centres like to sell potted plants in flower - 'coz people buy them (and know what they are getting :) ) but they have usually been grown under ideal conditions - perhaps in a greenhouse - so are "early". Your plant, in the soil, will have had to contend with a cold winter, possibly a wet Spring etc., and thus will be flowering anywhere between Early, Normal and Late! I would be AMAZED if it does not flower at all, but if, for some reason, it has needed a year to get settled in then it will flower next year

I suggest taking a digital photo of it when it is in flower (and anything else in the garden when it flowers) and saving the files by date, so you can compare year-on-year when things flower, and as a record so you can decide what you might move next to what so that they complement each other etc.

Welcome to GC SnowFallenAngel. We all have different sized gardens and as long as you get enjoyment out of it that's all that matters. Happy gardening! :dbgrtmb:

Hi SFA, welcome to Gardeners Corner.:snork: It doesn't matter how big your garden is as we've got members who garden on balconies, some with just concrete in their back yards, some with postage stamp gardens to those with an acre or more of garden.........why?....because we're all Gardeners and we all share the passion for growing things and making the most of what we've got.:hapydancsmil:

                            Thank you:ccheers:

It is at the back. I live in a council property and we have communial gardens. We each have a patch that we are supposed to keep 'tidy'! But I decided to put a lil garden in the middle of the lawn, I can't do much as I have back problems but I love to keep it pretty with all colours of the rainbow. This is the first piece of garden I've ever looked after although I'm 55 lol :old:

Thank you everyone for being interested :hapydancsmil:

Oh I know about back trouble!! So do a number of others on here! I have loads of containers which helps a bit because they are up higher. I sit a lot when I garden too. Easier than kneeling but getting up can be a challenge......
Have any of the others done anything with their patch??
