Police have reported that with further observation, it turns out the lion in Essex is just a snow leopard with a spray tan and hair extensions. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I wonder when people will realise there are many big cats roaming around the British countryside. Sightings have been increasing ever since the dangerous animal act was introduced. Apparently people went through a phase of keeping tiger cubs about 40years ago however when the act was introduced lots of people just let them free instead of paying for said licence.

I dismissed this story straight away when I first heard it, then was laughing with my OH when it came on the news today. She reminded me we are off to Essex next weekend to stay with her Brother, he lives near Clacton where it was spotted. Suddenly I've become a bit more worried in case it was real, funny how things only affect you when it's closer to home. The photo someone took looks like a fox to me, but maybe I'm not venturing out for a nature ramble next weekend.

The 'photograph' I saw looked like a fuzzy pic of a brown calf lying down at the side of a field.

I wouldn't worry John, the West Country is crawling with Panthers, they only been known to growl at people. Why tackle a human when there is so much roadkill about.

Mind you, one did drag a sheep up a tree to eat it.

There's supposed to be a Puma roaming the woods around us, many people have spotted it over the years.

Wouldn't that make it into a Leopard?
