Do you have or have you had a favourite tree? If so, where is it? Does it have sentimental value or a story attached to it?

In the fields where we walk the dogs there are woods all around. There is an Alder among a line of trees at the side of the field where it meets a stream. He has sheltered me and the dogs from the rain on many occasions and provided shade to rest under when the sun is too hot.

I don't know why I gravitate to this particular tree rather than any of the others, other than he is comfortable to lean against because his trunk is curved rather than straight and his bark feels nice and smooth where the cows have scratched themselves against it.

I don't know why, but I feel 'at peace' when I am there :wub2:

I am quite literally a tree hugger :snork:

I would love to have a garden with a big tree in it one day when I retire to my forever home.

That is absolutely stunning WOO :wub2:

I love the trunk(s) and the way it sort of weaves.

I have a beautiful Tilip Tree - Liriodendron tuliperfera planted in my garden in memory of a very special person in my life, so huge huge sentimental value...

I love all trees I think..

There is another tree not far away that my daughter & I often sat & talked under when things were hard.. It gives a feeling of wisdom & peace as it has seen allot in it's life time.. That tree is the Tortworth Sweet Chestnut...!

Mine has to be my old apple tree, when my grandaughter was about 5, I saw her standing very quitely facing the trunk with an open book in her hand - when I asked her what she was doing she said 'I'm reading to the tree'.

One particular Rowan on my land. It seems to produce berries every other year, and is decked in vivid red at this time of year on odd numbered years. Its just a lovely shape, in a lovely place, and it seems to restore my youth because I often climb it. Our little lad loves to play on the rope swings we set up on it when we go up. We always take the rope swing back down and hide the rope before we go home, so as not to attract others in (not out of spite, I'd hate for someone to come to mischief up there and then have nobody around to help them).

I tend to prefer those tree which are not too compact or too straight.

Isn't it! :heehee: Apparently, at some point in history there was a circular bench around the trunk and legend has it that it has been engulfed by the trunk over time :noidea:

BTW, adore the photo of Tilly reading to the apple tree! Do you make scrap books? That picture would make an amazing centre for a scrap book page.
