Tesco Basics or Sainbury's Value thin bleach works just as well as expensive toilet cleaner at a fraction of the price - and you can use it for other things too :)

Not on my toilet it didn't, had to resort to the thick bleach, but then again, I had been emptying my tan vats down there:eeew:

We pick up all the rocket sticks we find and use them for kindling. Also helps to tidy up the village streets.

I use my Santander 123 card on every purchase. Luckily I can afford to clear it every month.
I mostly use a quick wash (30 min ), as OH and myself are not grubby people. When things look a bit grey, I wait until I have a full wash, and do a good old boil wash.

I mostly buy yellow labelled reduced items, put them in freezer. Saved over £2k this year.

I always check promotions as they are not always what they seem, and sometimes own labels are cheaper.

I look around our weekly market, buying big bags of onions, 5kgs for £1.50. as I use a lot. I bulk buy sugar, as I need a lot for jam making.

I do a shop at Tesco's late on Sunday afternoon, get really cheap items, save vouchers, check websites for promo tickets. Getting my papers free for a month. Never have to buy toothpaste, check websites for free ones. coffee and tea samples keep me topped up, and free samples of moisturisers/face cream.

I really have saved quite a bit this year,I am not working now, so am able to spend time looking through the computer, and time out at the shops. :yay:

If I've got a voucher for Tescos and can't get to the total required by buying only what's cheaper there than anywhere else, what's on special offer and what's reduced, I'll top up with 5kg bags of sugar @ £3.99 each 80p/kg as that's about the cheapest around and I have a constant need for it in home winemaking (another saving), especially as Mrs Scrungee keeps nicking it for jam making. Down to my last 24kg, but that'll be gone within a week and prices don't go down.

So, you are a jam maker - inter alia Scrungee. What do you make: what sells well?
And the most important question - how much do you sell it for please?

Not enough damsons about for damson jelly this year, so just bramble, crab apple, crab apple & sloe and crab apple & rosehip jellies which fetch about £1.50 - £2 a jar depending on size.

Thanks Scrungee. Blackberries looked promisng in early August but never came to anything much around here this year. Not good enough to bother with really. On a brighter more exciting note today in our local Battle Budgens,
Fairy Non bio washing Gel 888ml £8.26 £5
6 Assorted quality beers in a case £9
            1 kg Granulated sugar 80p
Just remembered too, nearly out of Mamalade. I save some decent orange or clementine peels to cut up finely and simmer in a little water. I then add them to a tin of Mamade and add Sugar at 80p to make some good tasting mamalade. A tablespoon of Grand Marnier when cooling helps to make it a little more interesting, ut still cheaper and better than the so called "luxury " brands.

Tesco are doing the 10p off a litre ,looks to me like the best buy is coffee again ,will have a look though to see what`s good in the dairy offers you have to spend 8 pounds though, will do the price check ,have to buy 8 other items to price check, as it is cheaper in Morrisons ,at least my tank is nearly empty this time ,

This morning I bought £18 of cheese reduced to half price, so paid £9 and got a voucher for 10p off a gall of diesel, and as I've got an 80 litre tank (three quarters full)+ 2 x 10 litre cans I'll get over £9 back for each voucher I use when filling up at the weekend, so loads of free cheese.

Some of the qualifying items are only £7, so when getting another 4 vouchers for £28 we'll get some more stuff to top up to £40 and use our £5 off £40 spend voucher (perhaps buying some frozen food that's on special offer using 'double up' vouchers) . So we'll be getting more off our fuel than it will have cost to aquire the vouchers. Free food! - my favourite price.

The only list I can see online is this, but when I checked at Customer Services this morning there were toilet rolls at 2 for £7 icluded in the offer

If that really is £7 for 2 bottles of Robinsons squash it might be worth checking if it's cheaper elsewhere and claiming back the difference using Tescos online price guarantee. This link may be useful http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Prod...5&icid=Petrol50poff_Nav_All&sc_cmp=aff_995083

P.S. Don't forget you can freeze most cheese, but Lancashire, Wenslydale, etc. go crumbly when de-frosting so best grated before freezing. I've got a money off voucher for President Brie so will include some of that as it's a reasonable price at the moment and I have another money off voucher to use on baguettes.

Martin Lewis has this offer on his web page ,and he tells you where and how much cheaper it is in other supermarkets ,for instance the Gold Blend jars are 3-21 cheaper at Morrisons, so 5 jars@ 4-79=23-95. . Same 5 at Tesco =40 pounds +50p off per litre of diesel, for me. Assume 50 litres ,25 pound saving on Diesel so overall save would be 8-95. then price check ( :ThankYou: scrungee ) you should hopefully get a voucher for 10 pounds. Do not forget you have to have 8 unique items for price check to work.

EDIT: I was eating my lunch before hiiting the post button, so Pamdish beat to this:

Robinsons double concentrate is only £2 at Asda http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/#/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=robinsons double concentrate&Store=Tesco&Sort=Relevance s£4o using Tescos 'Price Promise' https://www.tescopricepromise.com/ to claim back the difference, but only up to £10 per shop, so as you'll be claiming £3 per you may need to split your shops and you'll get 10p/litre off your fuel for only £4, not the £7 (for 2) that Tesco are charging for this product.

But don't forget that you will need "To qualify, you need at least 8 different items and one comparable item in your basket" , but buying different flvours and a few other cheap bits and bobs will acheive this.

I was going to say the same as Scrungee, about the Robinsons squash, and if my memory serves me correct: buy it Asda, keep the receipt and collar off the bottle, and you can get your money back. :doggieshmooze:
