Since yesterday morning my pumpkin hasn't increased in girth either horizontally, vertically or in any other direction, despite my desperate attempts to encourage growth by fondly hugging it with my tape measure twice a day.

So it doesn't seem to have made any progress whatsoever during the last two cold, grey days and even colder, darker nights. I just hope it hasn't stalled completely and will take off again when the sunny days return.

The circumference of mine has increased from 10" to 14" in in the last week. If it keeps growing at this rate and Scrungees has stopped I will overtake him around the first week in December

It started growing again 4 days ago, but only at the rate of 0.5"/day.

If John's keeps growing at 4"/week and mine maintains 3.5"/week, I now make it 9th April 2014 before his pumpkin will be bigger than mine

          That's pretty good Scrungee.

Steve R; how are yours getting on?

I think it's only you two in the running.

Now I know where I have been going wrong! Obviously wearing a baseball cap is "de rigueur" for pumpkin growers....slips off to fleabay to buy baseball cap!!

I have not seen my pumpkin for well over a week now as I am still looking after Anne, she is now post-op 6 weeks and I need to be at home with her. But last I saw of it, it was still ok and an estimated 20lb or so.

I'm aiming for second place again like last year.....

            Steve...:)

The good news is my pumpkin plant doesn't seem to need watering any more. The bad news is that it's stopped growing again.

I wonder how long this stop/start business can carry on for.
