A glass jar/bottle put into your reclcyling box is going to be reused :roflol:

Sue, welcome to GC :dbgrtmb:. You'll have to stop having those sort of feelings :heehee:

Once you've been a member for a little while you'll find it easy to overcome those illogical thoughts. :snork:

Oh dear, whatever next - not being able to sell plants in re-used pots because of the danger of plant diseases?

Or not being able to give somebody a used carrier bag to take away their purchases?

Don't forget to get a plant health licence, planning permission for running a commercial venture, planning permission if you need to put a sign up, registering with the Revenue for the massive profits you will make, paying higher insurance for driving a vehicle for commercial purposes, etc

Isn't there also a potential liability for Capital Gains Tax on subsequent sale of your premises home if offsetting costs against your massive jam/chutney sale profits?

GIVE ME A BREAK. I work all God's hours, mostly standing at the kitchen sink or cooker, peeling, chopping, cooking(gas not cheap) bottling(jars cost me 47p each)
Labelling(ink for my printer, plus glue)price tickets.I really only want to do something, that gives me pleasure.:stirpot: No, I am not moaning, but these people really get up my nose.

how do you re-use the jars if you sell them:pcthwack: ???

Anyway, the lids and the seals if anything are bound to be the problem rather than the glass.

My mother when she would do jams and stuff for the family she would wash the jars a million times before re using them, besides the usual procedure in the boiling water to sterilize everything.

But then she was into this: eating something put in the jar ten years ago or so...and I am still alive to tell, very seldom some of the huge variety of food that she would store would go bad.

Precisely, I have been preserving foods since I was able to cook, and I ain't harmed anyone yet. You cannot reuse the jars you sell, you have to buy new again. What about people that make wines, etc, where do they stand. Abit of common sense is all that's needed. As with the other post, I scald my jars, and then I also put them in the oven to dry. What else are you supposed to do?:stirpot:

Just becoming slightly serious for a moment. The answer to your question is no - as long as no room in your home is used exclusively for the business of producing the profit. :dbgrtmb:

I tried to get rid of some egg boxes recently at the farm shop.
I was told "no thanks" we are not supposed to use old ones, and was given my, so called fresh free range eggs, in new ones.
