    Hi all,

I've finally got a little website up and running and would love some feedback on it. There are no photos or imagery on it at the mo - that'll come later. But I think it's pretty functionary at the mo.

I think the site is excellent. It couldn't really get much better. It is clear and concise, easy to read, and easy to navigate. 10 out of 10 for that. I particularly like that you've obviously realised that the art of building a good website is not to simply chuck loads of graphics and multimedia into it.

I like the little nuggets of info in the grey boxes at the bottom of each page. That's a nice touch.

There are a few tiny things I'd recommend though, if only to boost your search engine position, but also to aid in navigation:
    * The top banner should be a link to your home page.
    * The top banner image should have ALT text to tell us what it says if we are using a text only browser or a screen reader - this will help your search engine position but will also make it more accessible to partially sight or blind people
    * I'd make the copyright notice at the bottom a link to your home page.
    * In your Services page, I'd make the green headings links to more info about that service
    * On here we know you know your stuff because you've told us lots of useful stuff in many posts, but to someone else, with respect, it is not really pushed that you know your stuff. Do you have industry recognised qualifications? How you worked for big clients? Do you have all the necessary insurances etc? I wouldn't suggest you cram all this into the about page, but maybe have a seperate page, 'More About Me' type of thing, linked to from one of your nice clear 'Read more' links.
    * Perhaps a testimonials page with pics would be good.

That's not nit picking, as I said the site is very good as it is, but there's my opinion:)

Cheers, clueless1, I'll take your comments on board. Most of those I can impliment straight away with a few minor tweaks.

    Thanks.

I like it as it is so simple to navigate through. Well presented and concise too-well done.

Yes it looks nice, but to me "feels wrong"

I like the information within the grey boxes, but i don't like the text "For your information" to me its like some one standing there going ".........for your information..........." I would have "Did you know" as the title.

Also the bit called "behind the name" it gives the impression you are a "one man band" some people don't like one man bands,

why not change the part of the business I aim to provide you with

to part of the business we aim to provide you with

Also Mathew Norman, who is that then?, bloke down the road, the milk man? (I figure its you) But give your self a title, even if its

    Mathew Norman
    Director.

    It has more clout.

The bit that says “Sites of interest”, change that to “Other sites of interest”, it implies that your own site is of no interest and that these other sites are of more interest than yours.

Not to disagree with you, you make a very valid point, but I guess it depends on what sort of customers you're after.

Some people like the personal approach, and the 'I' suggests that someone is personally taking responsibility for the work, rather than hiding behind the business. I would rather do business with a small firm, possibly one man band, who has given me the impression that they take personal responsibility for the work.

On the other hand corporate customers often won't touch small businesses. In government circles there are guidelines that say that a service provider must be a limited company with a turnover above a certain figure and able to show the last two years worth of accounts.
