    Hi,

This is a drainage ditch across my garden, 20 metres long, I am lining it with Granite Boulders from the surrounding fields.
I was thinking of binding the rocks with Heather or something.
Like a rockery which is sometimes a stream.
Would Heather survive.? what do you think.?
The ditch is wet perhaps a month in a whole year.
    Sorry about the trembly picture.!

    thanks
    Howard

I have no idea what would survive, but I think it's kind of a cool feature! Is it wet and soggy most of the time, or usually dry?

 Well not had a ditch like that Howard, but looks a really good challenge.. Heather survives well amongst granite boulders in the wild quite happily on the moors etc so I don't see why it wouldn't work there... I think I would also go for wild flowers, Primroses, Cowslips & various spring & summer flowering bulbs Snowdrops would of course look lovely along the upper bank... You could also plant Foxgloves & Borage for the bees... Herb Bennet (Wood Avens) Geum Urbanum... Herb Robert Geranium robertianum... Water Avens Geum rivale.. Birds-Foot -Tre-foil Lotus corniculatus.. These are all familiar wild flowers that flower as well to add colour & interest.. I suppose any of the hardy geraniums would look good too.... I think it is screaming for wild flowers & plants with some bulbs mixed in too... There are many Herb & wildflower nursaries you can but all these plants very cheaply from as well... Good Luck with it.. I think it will be a superb addition to your garden in a year or so when all is established... :flag: Anyway those are my thoughts... :D
