I have a friend who eats Brussels Sprouts dipped in vinegar. When I was young I would take a packet of crisps, undo the little blue bag !! (showing my age) then sprinkle vinegar in the bag. Oh happy days..:spinning:

Malt for basic Tripe and Cow Heel
      Malt for Pickling large onions
Malt for garden peas at dinner along with a sprinkle of sugar
White distilled for pickled eggs, silversking onions and making sauces
Cider vinegar for gargling sore throats

Can't remember which Church it is in but there is a 12th century Knight who's coffin got disturbed during renovations, he is perfectly preserved in vinegar. Someone tasted it & said it tasted like "Catsup"

Word stem : Vine = Wine, Gar = Spear. So could have started off as Sharp Wine before what we understand as vinegar.

Thats just a guess, as i've packed me books away.

According to Matthew 27:34 and 27:48, he was offered OZOS which is Greek, for sour wine, or vinegar mixed with water.

Cider vinegar is fruity , balsamic vinegar is sweet, red wine vinegar is - don't know- maybe winy ;-). They all have their own taste. Although you should know that some cheap ones can taste thinner somehow although the nominal ability is the same. I prefer cider vinegar for Mediterranean salad, together with some lemon and good! olive oil

Some of those balsamic vinegar's can be very expensive, and are they worth the price. I buy the cheapest, and I find it ok. Then of course, there are different types of olive oil, different acidity levels. I once bought an olive pomace, and it was disgusting.
