A sure way to remove diesel fumes from clothes is to set fire to them.

I hope it will - thankfully, it has a wee bit of spare room in it. Somewhat sadly, I liked it so much when I bought it, I went back to get another and they only had the next size down, and I still bought it - - the 'snug' one is still fine, but its not as comfy as the big one.

No, not wool or cashmere - its a thick fleecy type material.

      Hmmmmm.............. ;)

A friend and I tried similar to get rid of petrol that we had used to clean oil off a garage floor - the flash burns taught us a lesson! (closely followed by a damned good talking to by his wife!)

Try soaking in Ariel Bio overnight FC. This is my cure-all for most things. It cleans jewellery, oven dishes etc.

Years ago a few tiles had fallen off my kitchen wall and I tried everything including a scraper to shift the old adhesive off the back so that I could stick them back on the wall. As a last attempt I soaked them in Ariel Bio and hand hot water overnight. The following morning they came clean with next to no effort. :)

I soak my oily clothes over night hot water with washing up liquid, but i use one set of clothes just for oily jobs,it's hard to get rid of the smell, most of the time the smell will be covered up buy other smells

          Thanks all :)

I'm heading out shortly, so will try and get a few bits and bobs and see what works over the course of the week. Be nice if I could get everything smelling sweetly again, as I hate to waste perfectly good clothes.

I did think of bicarb, but wasn't sure if it would cope with the sheer amount? I've just popped out to the out house and opening the door is like opening up a diesel tank!

I'll be in Staines later, so will get some conditioner and stuff from the pound shop.

What a cocktail that would be! No diesel smell left, but very little of the jumper too due to chemical erosion!

I got some biological powder whilst out, as well as some fabric conditioner - I am going to soak it over night in the powder solution, rinse, then soak overnight in a conditioner solution before rinsing and drying and see if that works.

I'm resisting the old joke about how to get rid of Staines.
