Doesn't quite look right for a Foxglove.
I think it's a Verbascum of some kind.

On second thoughts could it be an old primrose?

Can't be certain. If I saw it in the flesh I'd be more sure either way, but I always struggle with photos because somehow they always look just slightly different to when you see stuff for real.

My first thought was primrose because foxglove leaves are usually thicker.

I agree. This was my first thought as well.

I think you're spot on there, Trunky, deffo not a foxglove.

I think it'll have a small spike of pleasant (but not spectacular) whitey pink 5 petalled flowers.

I totally agree, not a foxglove. Only because i have lots of big leafy foxgloves that haven't gone into the stork/flower mode yet, and they don't look like that plant.
(I was just too chicken being a novice to say otherwise!)
It's also not a primrose, in my humble opinion (another flower i have a lot of).

I think it could possibly be a verbascum, but it's not a plant i have myself but looks a bit similar.

Triffid, you should get an award :blue thumb: . It's the first time I've seen Silver Surfer not be sure about a plant :).

Make sure you put a label alongside the plant so that you are certain which one it is when the spring arrives.

I'll have to show Mrs Shiney the picture.
