Same here, mine's self cleaning, i have a double oven so i love that option.

Plus...I'm allergic to oven cleaner:biggrin:.....there is somthing in it that makes me feel nauseous, i break out in a rash, so we figured that the self cleaning option was good for me, especially having 2 ovens to clean:blue thumb:

Well I spent all yesterday afternoon cleaning mine, its one of those stoves ones with two ovens one hasn't worked for a while now but hasn't really bothered me as I have a combination microwave oven too but thats just packed up so thought we'd get it repaired and serviced, just hung around all morning waiting for the engineer to come and he hasn't even bothered to turn up!!!!! nothing annoys me more than people who can't even be bothered to phone if they're not coming grrrr, obviously doesn't need the money, sorry rant over :)

Our ovens have a self-cleaning cycle but I never use it. I don't need oven cleaning chemicals either because of the way I keep them clean :dbgrtmb:. Although I must confess that it's getting more difficult nowadays to crouch down to clean them :old:. I'll have to get a little kiddie's stool to sit on :heehee:

Good for you shiney - when I have cleaned my oven when my self-cleaning cycle has cleaned my oven I make a promise that I will clean it every time I use it - alas I break that promise every time and I don't even have to bend as it is eye-level. Must make an effort.

I think Shiney is just a teensy weensy bit pleased with himself!:patpat:

        I don't need chemicals either - because i'm a complete slob!

Can somebody explain this oven-cleaning obsession to me? What would happen if you failed to clean them? (AFAICS - not a lot.)

In my defence I should add that as a semi veggie in possession of a remoska my oven doesn't get used much and never for splattery meat.

        :snork: :snork: :snork:

The oven clogs up - just like some people's arteries. :hate-shocked:

I, also, don't like burnt bits dropping on my food. Fussy ain't I? :heehee:

Funnily enough, I have a shower every day and clean the shower after me. That's a throwback to remembering the times when we could only get to the local baths once a week to have a bath. It was that or use the old tin bath that used to hang on a hook on the wall in the garden. The bath was filled with kettles of boiling water and the whole family took it in turns to use the same water. You youngsters don't know you've been born! :old: :heehee:

I remember it well Shinney - I was the youngest of 2 and didn't mind being sent to bed early that night if it meant that I got to use the water 1st. My grandchildren used to think I was making up stories when I told them of things that we had to put up with.

We shared Friday bath night with the 2 kids who lived next door. One week at their house and the next at ours. The youngest went in first (came out lobster pink:phew:) then the next until the eldest:sad: had to bath in gloopy, grey, half cold water and fight to get a lather. An awesome tide mark was left in those good old days .
And then, the wonderful weekly treat of CLEAN JIMJAMS !!

Now, that's really taking things too far!

Kettles? You were lucky. We had to heat up rainwater in tin cups with a candle every year so we could wash behind the ears.

yes, the roof gets done just fine. There is a broiler in the oven at the roof area so steaks can be grilled etc. So when the oven cleaner goes on the broiler turns on and would be close to the roof etc. But in general I can't recall any baking product I have done that has spattered that far up to the roof.

With ten years of cooking the roof has become a major problem for me, then I remembered the instruction manual and had myself a little read of it.:help:
Spanish, German, French, Dutch, Greek, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Swedish, Norwegian, Italian, and finally English:scratch:
Had a read and it stated that it was a self clean oven except the roof:huh:
I thought that this was supposed to be a self clean complete not part of cooker:dunno:
Then I read that the pigeon English is not up to standard.:oopss:
Mistakes in grammar and spelling mistakes too makes you think was it worth buying it in the first place. Thaiwanese is not the chosen language of mine but trying to convert it into English is far from easy.:runforhills:
Bring back those excellent linguists who new how to convert imperial into metric.:loll:
