I have not grown Blue Chip, but have grown buzz which is also a minature version that growns to about a meter. I have 1 in a pot and 2 in the ground and all seem to have done ok, I only put them in this year and all flowered well.

Blue chip is smaller, more compact than buzz. I want to get dwarf buddleia but only one so which do I go for?

I have been looking at this to its just ideal for a pot .

Like the idea of not growing to big.

Was looking on JParkers at it.

Unless a local garden centre has.

I am also looking for a dwarf witch hazel to grow in a pot .

Scotkat I would, not get it from parkers....you will get a tiny plant. Better to buy established one that will give you flowers next year

I got mine from Van Meuven when they were on special £5.99 for 3 I think. They were about 3-4 inches, I grew them on until about a foot and planted out and they all flowered this year.

Wont be a problem with buddleja. It will flower in its second year even from a tiny seedling.

Even a small Buddleja will flower. I took a cutting from my Buddleja Pink Delight earlier this year, shoved it in some compost and even that flowered :blue thumb:

I'm looking at blue chip in 1 litre pot for £8.99 plus postage. Only want one plant but want a good one for impact next year. So much seems now to be sold in 9 cm pots...I agree with clueless that buddleias are vigorous, etc and will prob flower in two years but a I litre plant will fill a space next summer. I guess I'm less patient now..........

I agree with you. I think Blue Chip will be less vigorous than the bog-standard Lilac ones that can grow out of a stone wall and litter the railway tracks, and the plants (as distinct from bulbs) that Parkers [and van Meuven et al] sell can be tiddly and take a lot of nurturing to get into decent sized plants, and I would expect that a tiddler could easily take the first year getting to 2L pot size, whereas a plant in a 1L pot should make a "bush" in its first year.

This is a photo of my 'Buzz' that was taken in September. As I said in an earlier post it was only 3-4 inches when I got it and it flowered really well

Morning rusty roots. Buzz has grown really well. Do you think it will be a lot bigger plant next year ? It looks like its not going to be a dwarf shrub. Like the flower colour
