Romantic Gestures have not died. The gentleman who carved his girlfriends name and will you marry me, into a field, hired a private plane and proposed flying over the sign in the field !!.;).

A couple of weeks ago we attended an alleged family get together in a local hotel, there was around 40 of us.
My Granddaughter's Boyfriend's Father and Mother were over from Saudi Arabia on a rare visit.

My Granddaughter's Boyfriend had booked the hotel,(allegedly),for a family get together, for us to meet the Parents.

The evening had only been going for about an hour, when the boyfriend stood up,
Chinked his glass for attention, walked over to where my Granddaughter was sitting, went down on one knee, produced a Diamond engagement ring and
proposed in the middle of a packed Hotel Restaurant.:ccheers:.

Can you imagine if she said No :yikes:.

Personally I proposed, without a Ring, In a Glasgow Corporation Transport Bus
    Shelter .
If I Remember correctly the Proposal went something like this.-----------
"You know how I travel every Night on the bus up and down to your house"??
    "Yes",she replied.
"You know how much it costs me Every week"??, "Yes ",She Replied.
"Do you not think it would be cheaper and less Hassle if we got Spliced"??.
    "Yes " She Replied.:blue thumb:.
This was an ex Seaman Being Ever So Romantic..

Can you Remember where did you propose marriage,or got proposed to ????.

That sounds similar to the proposal I got. Only my OH used to drive from Poole to Brighton every weekend.:heehee: The conversation took place as we were standing by his MG Midget as he was about to depart again, late at night.
I don't remember ever hearing the words "will you marry me". :frown:
It's not that he wasn't romantic, he used to bring me a single red rose every weekend too.:)
      That was 30 years ago.

I proposed to my missus in a pub in Portsmouth called the Ship Anson. I did the one knee thing and everything, and had even bought a nice ring with a big chunk of ruby in it.

Wife accepted of course, and the ring was far too big. Then my overly superstitious sister told me ruby was bad luck on an engagement ring. This turned out to be the case, because after several attempts by the jeweller to adjust it to the right size, each attempt an utter failure, they eventually said they'd damaged the ring by adjusting it too many times. There was no option, we had to break the cycle of bad luck now attached to our relationship (or so it seemed), so we tricked fate. We split up, gave it an hour or so, re-met, then I bought a different ring from a different jeweller and proposed again, also in the Ship Anson.

That was about 15 years ago, although we only got round to actually tying the knot about 5 years ago. I knew then she was my soul mate, and as much as I sometimes torment her, we're still best of buddies:)
