Hi there I want to share a recent find on my samsung telephone and that is to be able to dictate your text as opposed to type it down on the keyboard . It is a very simple procedure you just have to press the microphone button which is situated on the keyboard itself.
This system is not free from errors but it makes it so much quicker to write down a message.
Just a hint though your voice has to be sufficiently clear and the words have to be pronounced a bit robot style in order for them to be interpreted without fail.

I love speech recognition. Try this phrase and see what you get:

    A Monkey a dog and a fish
and a chunky frog made a wish
    they wished for a phone
but they received a fat bone
and the fish had to make do with a splish.

I've got an iPhone (but don't hold it against me!) and the only really use I've ever found for Siri (it's speech recognition thing) is to play in the pub. Ask it silly and pointless questons, or if you can find a friend with one, let the two talk to each other... they loose the plot! LOL

So, now we have a text message that involves talking, great idea.
Next step, a phone that reads the in coming text message to you.

Who knows, one day it might be possible to actually talk to the person on the other end, and thereby just say what you need to without all the hassle.

But I'm sure it will be a few years before technology allows that.

I actually don`t like to talk on the phone and i wouldnt want a phone that talks to me the idea doesnt appeal to me. But the above mention facility makes a welcome variation from typing on the touch keyboard.

Could be great for visually impaired people particulary if it reads incoming text.

For those of you like me without one of the newer smart-phones fear not. If you want to have play, speech recognition is also starting to appear on some regular Internet websites like this one where your voice controls a search of YouTube, video selection and handles the play / stop buttons.

NB: It only works with the 'Google Chrome' web browser at the moment and naturally you need a microphone plugged into the PC.
