Watching the last episode of GW , Monty said if you plant daff bulbs indoors you may get daffs for Christmas . Well I am getting two pots of compost ! The miniature daffs have made no progress . I planted them early November and put them in a light warm location . When I plant outside , no problems . Is there a technique to indoor daffs ?

    Hi Harry,
My experience to growing bulbs for indoors is you either put the pots of bulbs in and outdoor plung bed of sand or a cool dark room .When they have a good pot full of roots and a few inches of top growth bring them into a cold place indoors, to grow on to flower .
However to get them for Christmas I thought they my well have be specially prepared bulbs.

"light warm situation", that was your problem. They need cold and dark to initiate growth.

        Thanks Davy and Palustris
Just patrolled the garden today ( its stopped raining ! ) and my other container daffs are just showing . So I will move my daffodil house planters out into the cold and dark and see if I can save anything. I can bring them back into the house when the flower buds form. :blue thumb:
