:smile:Deep thinking person that I am lol.

It occurred to me that we are only temporary custodians of our lovely houses and cared for gardens.....We are just passing through.... Gulp.

Can be quite heart breaking if you look at your old place on Google maps and find all your hard work has been ripped out and/or built on. :frown:

I live only a few streets from our last house, and occasionally have to pass by the old place, and it is saddening to see that the front garden has all been ripped out :frown: It was my first garden, and I was proud of myself that I managed to not only keep it tidy, but to actually get stuff to grow and thrive.

I know the feeling well.......my old place was a tip when we moved there but although small the garden was to my eyes perfect...blood sweat and tears went into it and it was completely transformed....i asked the buyers if they'd mind me taking some of the plants....the reply...."take what you like we're not into gardening"....ofcourse not everyone is....so i knew what was to become of it.....and sure enough when i've driven by the old place it now looks very sad......in the few years we were there i put a life times worth of love into it....(i'm a sentimental old fool sometimes:)).....

Yep, we were just talking about that yesterday. We have so many gardens. When we sell the place, not for another 10 years about, I have to sell it to another gardner. It just will not be right to not. We shall see, lot can happen in 10 years.

Glad to find deep thinkers on GC; I am frequently perplexed, but delighted by how attached I am to my garden. But all things must pass. The older I get the more I will think this way - I've observed it in others, the beginnings of detachment from the things of this life. Not that I'm planning to give up for many years yet!

whatever we own we cannot own it forever and can be taken away anytime. We can only rely on our own person until our physical and intellectual abilities allow us to do so. After that is somebody's elses turn.

Having said that any house you would live in would be a lovely house.

And that is the very same thought we should bear in mind with our most treasured of loved ones ;) So, the question remains: should we simply not put the effort in? Or should we take pride in our endeavours and blow pops to the rest :dunno:

Take pride; keep endeavouring. We pass this way just once! (Be it house/home, garden, loved ones or merely, as ourselves on our personal journey).

Well, hopefully, at least, my garden pics on youtube will go on.
