Well it all went horribly wrong and I have only myself to blame. I hurt my back in July and I carried on working. As the year went on it gradually became worse until I could take no more. Sadly this meant stopping from working self-employed. I went to see a doctor and she confirmed what I said it was, sciatica, and said as I'd had it for so long already I needed to have an MRI to see what was causing it. She also put me down as an emergency for physiotherapy. As you can guess nothing gets done in hurry on the NHS and I am still not working and am beginning to feel frustrated.

I have a date set for an MRI scan on 14th January and I am on the waiting list for physio, although I've already started my own little self help plan. Can't wait for the NHS any more!

Things are looking up or at least being controlled via medication enough that I feel like going outside for more than just a few minutes.

Yesterday I pottered in the potting shed, tidying up those plants that are waiting to be planted out in the spring. I removed any dead and decaying foliage, gave them a bit of a water and put a few slug pellets down to protect the new growth from those pesky snails.

Today I sat on a milk crate and managed to hand fork and weed half of a small raised bed. I hope to finish the second half tomorrow. Don't I sound pathetic at the moment! It felt great doing the small amount that I did.

I have noticed that my back muscles feel tight and tend to spasm a bit so must try to do more exercise to losen it all up. Don't want to make things any worse.

I would like this small bed ready for my Red Cabbage plants I have sitting in modules in the shed. Yes I did manage to keep them alive amazingly!

    Happy New Year, Tina.

Ouchie ooch on the sciatica front (I've had that and it's not nice :nonofinger: ) to have endured it for such a time must be awful!!

I know you are keen and eager (and most likely very frustrated too) but please do take it easy ... the MRI is only a week or so away and I'm sure you will begin to get answers before too long.

    Just, be gentle with yourself!

Don't have a lot of choice on that score lol Trying to stay positive and keep occupied with planning what to do in the garden. Doing what I can in the garden, very easy stuff. Its that or I go totally insane. Got a lot of reading to do as well. Might as well make the most the sitting on my bum time.:rolleyespink:
