I have two terracotta pots with lilies in. They have almost all died down now and I've removed the tops as they've died, but can someone please tell me what I need to do with them now? Do I need to lift the bulbs or can they stay in place until next year? If I lift them, where do I put them and when do I replant them? Or if they stay planted do I need to water the pots? I don't have a greenhouse or conservatory but they could go in the garage?

    Many thanks,
    Helen

First what zone are they and you. I leave mine in the ground, come up every year. The thing is if you leave them in the pots and you naturally water them as the snow would, your pots would break if they are ceramic. Can't be any further help here, sorry.

They'll be alright. The wife has had some lillies in the same pot for a few years now, and every year they come back in greater numbers. My mum also has some, and she's right up on the northeast coast where winter gales laden with sea spray batter her house every year. If you're worried, just put the pots in the most shelter spot you can find in the garden so they're not exposed to the full force of any cold winds you might get.

I just leave mine outside in the pots Helenhicks and they come up every year. I don't think you'll have any problem in Somerset.

Perfect, thanks ever so much, will just leave them as they are and see what happens.

    Thanks again :)
