 A good quality emulsion and roller...........do it slowly and there will be no drips.
You will need to do the edges or coving with a good brush.
    Simples!
I wish I lived closer............................I would give you a hand.;)

Close your eyes and hope for the best..... No wait sorry thats driving.

Just make sure not to apply paint too thickly if you have a smooth ceiling a roller will do however I brush is needed to an Arctic ceiling

I'd agree with the advice to use good quality paint and a good quality roller - also, don't overload the roller (oh, and if you have used the roller before and cleaned it, make sure its dry).

One thing NOT to try is the Dulux PaintPod - I tried one of them when they first came out, and they are terrible - I ended up with more paint on me than I got on the ceiling (and I am reasonably adept at decorating, as my dad was a time-served painter and decorator, and I was learning 'on the job' from quite a young age)

It is best to defrost your Arctic ceiling, and allow to dry before Artexing it and use more than ONE brush

Close your eyes is best, or ask one of the men on here to pop down and assist

If you have a slab of cans, I can watch and advise as required if you have missed any bits

Thank you for all the advice! I'll take them all on board. I actually enjoy the painting part itself, it is just the smell that get into my nerves:gaah:

For me it is not the paint in the eyes that is the issue. I believe there are rollers maked that say for ceiling painting, some come with a shield thing, and keep the amount on the roller handable, no loading.
My issue is neck pain. I've tried the on the ladder, and the roller srewed from a broom handle standing on the floor and just walking. But after all of it, there is a week of neck suffering pain. My living room needs it, dread it. And yes, I do stretches, take brakes, etc. But at least the living room space will not be as large as the last area I did which was the hallway, dinning room and kitchen, all connected, all being done. And you know come to think about it, I do not recall eye issues at all.

Yep and after that comes the walls. And the dreaded fine perfect line needed between the wall paint color and the ceiling. Not a fan of perfect white for ceiling paint, will be a drop of a color. Good luck to you.

I use a long handed pole roller, then I'm not rollering directly above my head.

just want to reassure everybody about this "pole painting"....it is really easy and much less tiring that what I expected, even if the roll used is big because anyway it is not supposed to be loaded to the point of being heavy.
