Tesco have launched a new line of baps exclusively for their value burgers... Thoroughbread!

 

Horse meat tastes a bit sweeter than beef. I am personally not keen on it but not because a horse is more of a pet than a cow, I think that cows are lovely animals all the same.

 

They must be very lean...

 

Waitrose burger or Tesco burger?

i have eaten Horse meat ( not by choice ) ordered a steak in Bulgaria after i had eaten it the teacher ( yes that long ago ) told us we had just eaten horse meat i think there was only one of us that didnt throw up at this info ...... it did taste like steak just tougher, but i dont know that i would actually choose to eat it, yet i have eaten many a rabbit and many birds in pies and goodness knows what else my Ex husband gave me (chinese people eat some strange things ) i dont really like packaged food i cook with fresh meat if possible but that said i could happily not eat meat at all as i love veggies and pulses etc

Reading Victoria's post about their meal out amused me as it reminded me about how "taste" is dependent on visual perception and associated expectation.
A few years ago we were eating a "platter for two" in a taverna in Greece. There were lots of interesting and tasty bites on it and I speared a morsel and offered it to Mrs W. She ate it and reckoned it was "village sausage" and enjoyed it - until I told her that it was pickled octopus!

 

You think horse and pig DNA in beef is shocking? At least they're both meat.

After a visit to Lidl the other day, little Cacadore found some furry caterpiller DNA in her cabbage.

who would have thought that the fat cats doing some thing underhand would have given my warped humour so many miles of smiles and titters and some of these puns are just so clever

Horse meat is not too bad, i know some one who went out for a meal and had a bone stuck in his mouth, went to hospital had it remove and had it looked at,
