I have been told to bring Geraniums in now for the winter,do I need to cut
them back,or just leave them as they are, they are in pots.

They're usually sold as bedding annuals, but if kept out of the frost and damp should survive for next year. I take cuttings for a bit of winter colour in the house as we've no greenhouse, but the heat of the house makes them go a bit leggy.

I took most of mine out of the baskets and put them in pots on the window ledge in the kitchen for some colour too :)

I did one year pack them away ready for winter in a 'safe place' ready to be repotted in spring ..... I still to this day have never found them :(

There is no need to take them out yet unless you have to or there are no more flowers, they can wait another month or so and will take a light frost wth no damage.

Freedom Spark, this does cause confusion with some folk.
Geraniums are hardy perennials, Pelargoniums (summer bedding Geraniums) are not classed as hardy but often survive the winter.:)

A cold greenhouse is not good enough to overwinter geraniums (pelargoniums) IMO. I cut mine hard back and bring them into my conservatory which is doubleglazed and heated a little. Some even flower a little throughout the winter.
