I'm heartily sick of having a cat who would rather die of thirst than drink from any container indoors and who, thus, insists on going outside to drink from an old washing-up bowl left for the purpose. I'm doubly sick of being the eejit who has allowed herself to be conned into going out every time the cat wants to drink in order to break the ice for her. :gaah:

They don't work so good in the snow, still only reading 11c:sad:

You need a Cow to sleep in the veg patch overnight, that would warm it up:biggrin:

Can you plant them up in Peat pots?

Despite reading about planting garlic in toilet roll tubes/pots filled with compost somewhere cold only a couple of days ago I'd completely forgotten about it (I blame the home brew plus I was actually searching for info on early planted/potted onion sets) so they can still be planted up and put in a poly tunnel/unheated greenhouse to cold condition them and get the roots growing ready for planting out when the ground's thawed.

Its winter :) come mid march we will have forgotten about this!
On the bright side though surely all this snow will give better light levels if we're sowing indoors on window sills!

I've just dragged a big bag of multi-purpose compost indoors into the kitchen to defrost so I can stuff it and garlic cloves into bog roll tubes then put it them back outside to get cold again, which didn't impress Mrs Scrungee, especially as I sent her outside to knock all the snow off our bay tree with a broom (it is rather large). But I did cut some logs & kindling (the pile of frozen sawdust on the paving is getting rather impressive).

Must find my gloves & mitts ............

P.S. Our neighbours get back from Tenerife today - they're going to get a nasty shock compared to "Scorchio".

I looked at the BBC's weather forecast section of their site yesterday to be told to expect blizzards today. Never happened. Now they are coming tomorrow instead. We'll see.

The BBC never get it right. I would only be worried if the BBC reported that we're all in for lovely weather for the foreseeable future.

The BBC are not the worst weather forecasters

Yeah, but the difference here is that BBC expects to be taken seriously, whereas surely the Express people must realise that nobody takes them seriously:)
