    Evening all,
Did anyone see the tv program about bad drivers on the box tonight?

Some of the driving really was bad, it makes you wonder how the hell did these people ever pass a test.

    AHHHHHH the worlds gone mad:love30:

Have to confess I didn't see the programme, but I only have to get in my car to wonder the same thing - and this comes from watching people who aren't even required to go on a course for 'bad' drivers!

As for being able to read - you don't have to, you can ask for a 'Voiceover' theory test (available in 21 languages including English) or you can have a Translator Assisted Test if there's no voiceover for your particular language.

And what makes you think gypsy families have got a licence anyway? :heehee: Although, having watched the 'My Big Fat Gypsy .....' programmes, not all 'travellers' .... travel, thus making it simple enough to use someone else's address.

One thing that puzzles me - why do travellers always moan and complain when they're turfed off what they refer to as permanent sites? Now that really doesn't make sense - shouldn't a 'traveller' well ...... travel???

I often find myself wondering if Kelloggs have started giving away licences with their cornflakes, the standards of driving on the roads around here are so bad.

Many people PAY someone to be them, take a test and pass on the licence to them

It must be well orft people judging by the drivers of BMW, MERC, RANGE ROVER etc
Well maybe not so well off as can only afford the basic models that come without indicators, or throttle control

No getting your licence via someone else is very common, especially in the non British community mainly

Another common thing is speeding with penalty points, most of my ex bosses used the local UNI for students to take the hit at £100 a pop, a very tempting cash in pocket for
students, I wonder how they feel now they want to insure a car of their own ?

I agree, there is so much bad driving, and in my opinion, it keeps getting worse despite the fact that the test process keeps getting tougher more comprehensive less simple.

What really annoys me the most is the fact that the coppers do nothing about it. Even if they see shocking driving first hand, half the time they do nothing. I believe this is because of years of bad press about 'The Motorist' being persecuted (I'd love to know who 'The Motorist' is, he or she has really bad luck, getting pulled and fined for no good reason, I've never been pulled over or fined probably because I abide by the rules - but I digress).

I don't like the way 'travellers' and 'gypsies' are so often all tarred with the same brush though. They're just people, and there's good and bad in all groups of people. I've known a fair few of 'the travelling community' (they don't call themselves that) and all the ones I knew were alright, normal people. I've also known a fair few 'normal' people, and while the majority are alright, I do know a few that drove (regularly) with no license or insurance etc, and I've even known a few proper dodgy horrible thieving, nasty people. My point is it doesn't matter what 'group' people are in. Some are alright, some aren't.

If memory serves, I recall a Top Gear programme showed how driving licences were awarded in India, the student had to drive in a straight line for 100 yards in order to pass and get his licence - just googled and found it:
