Cutting back ornamental grasses

    With Fescue Elijah Blue it's best not to touch it until weather is warmer. Then comb or,gently pull out dead foliage. The carex you mention Mowgley are much tougher but no real need to cut them down but again best when growth has begun. I,split my grasses regularly....hate those ugly huge clumps.....to keep them young, vigorous and easy to maintain. Even here in mild Cornwall I wait for the slightly warmer weather before tidying up any of my grasses. Patience I think but we are only talking 3 or 4 weeks

    I agree with Verdun about dividing clumps when necessary and about waiting for suitable weather for cutting back some evergreens, (if necessary.)

    It's good we are debating how to cut back our grasses......it shows spring is nearly here!
