I hope the sunshine returns soon, these grey days make me feel low. They make me feel lonely and regretting not taking a different path in life.

That's the problem with living in the UK. The UK really is one of the most sunless places in the world. Even places in the Arctic circle get more annual sunshine hours than here. The only place which is worse of than the UK is Iceland.

But on the other hand when the sun comes out it feels very good.

Have you thought about Vitamin D supplements. People with fair skin tend to be able to reproduce their own Vit D at will, but those with slightly darker skin (even relatively light skin) lack the ability in winter unless Vitamin D rich foods are eaten.

Thanks for the reply. Will look into some vitamin pills, took multi vitamin most of my life but stopped a couple of years ago due to no local supply.

      Do multi-vitamins contain Vitamin D?

It's true though, once it gets to Mid-March.. things become so much more rosy

Just went to have a look, the print is so small I can't even read it with my glasses on:doh:

Roll on spring, what with the lack of sun last year i've had enough now too.

Have to confess, I have found this past Autumn/Winter to be quite depressing weatherwise. Waterlogging/snow/more waterlogging/ and tonight ... more snow!!

I found the "Jenny's Secret Mission" thread quite a tonic this morning.

I think with the last few summers we really need a good one this year.

I always make the effort to go outside in my 30min lunch break, its the only daylight I see for a about 5 months of the year.
I usually only manage 20 mins after I've had a bit to eat, but apart from weekends, (that all ways seem to be awful), its the only daylight I see this time of the year.
I hate short days, and as I get older they seem to get worse.

Well I'm supposed to be a joiner but, most times these days they set themselves up in units, with no windows and a shutter at the front.
You can freeze to death with the shutter up, or you can close it and keep the draft out.
We usually go for keeping the draft out.

I sympathise my friend:sad: Seems office workers can go home if it drops below 45c, but us manual workers have to keep going down to minus 30.

I too find this time of year totally depressing:frown: Working in a factory all day I don't get to see any sunshine, even if there is any. I can sympathise, Julie...

I feels sorry for those who are alone and have no one to interact with, they must get hit very hard.. the elderly etc. There is nothing worse... it helps lift the spirit when there are people to share your SAD!

I succumbed to a bout of dispondancy yesterday but have managed to buck myself up today. It really us comforting to view a thread like this - it makes you feel as though you are in "good company" ; not the only one looking out on that wet thinking "I cannot believe I will ever get to plant things in my garden"
